Happy New Year! Some of you are returning to art classes and some of you are brand new to my classes. I am looking forward to teaching all of you. It is so hard to believe that we are half way through the academic year.
If you are an Art 1 student or are returning to art from a previous year, understand that this week will be filled with orientation type activities and information. We will become familiar with the art room and where items are kept. We will review expectations and requirements for the course. But, don’t worry, there will be plenty of art making thrown into the mix.
Get ready to draw!
One reminder for all students in all classes: You will need a sketchbook. 9″x12″ is the preferred size. This is about the size of a regular notebook. The sketchbook will be a necessary item every day in class. Please purchase one during the first week. You will be given your first assignment in the sketchbook this week.
You will also use your sketchbook for taking notes, jotting down ideas and sketching. You can find sketchbooks almost anywhere art and school supplies are sold. I also have some available for purchase in the art room. Purchasing one from the school will save you a trip to the store.
Again, I am looking forward to teaching each of you. Students and parents, please check this blog at least once a week for assignments and information. I will post photographs of student art, students working in the classroom and the weekly sneak peeks. I hope you enjoy your semester in art. I also hope you will give your very best everyday. I have a very positive classroom atmosphere where students come to be creative.
